Farewell Dinner

Thank you to Sun-Sil Lee for treating the delegation to a nice farewell dinner. At the dinner, Suzanne gave wooden crosses, which had been made by a North Korean hiding in a safe house in China, to each delegation member along with a personal Bible verse for each based on their testimony during the week.

For Kim Ji Young Psalm 78:72 “and David shepherded them with integrity of HEART; with SKILLFUL HANDS he led them.” David was one of God’s favorites and you have led this 2026 NKFW delegation so well as the Chair of the delegation and you now lead Free North Korea Radio.

For Hu Kung-ilGalatians 6:9: “Let us not become weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Because you have led the North Korean defectors for decades and this is one of my favorite verses for me too: to not give up.

For Park Sang Hak: James 1:12: “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial; because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” Because you have been threatened, attacked and jailed for your efforts.

For Choi Jeong HunEphesians 6:11-12: “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Because you are a warrior!

For Ji Hannah: Proverbs 31: 29; 31a: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all…Honor her for all that her hands have done.” Because of all you did to save your family and then risked your own life to rescue your sons.

For Lee Sun Sil: Ephesians 2:10: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” When I first saw you, I did not remember meeting you with Bok Lee because you were so exuberant and exuded so much joy that it was hard to realize all the horrors you experienced in your life, but you are God’s handiwork.

For Bae Gwang Min: Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” God will show you the way that we can continue to carry out Operation Truth.

For Yang Il ChulProverbs 16:9: “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord decides his steps.”

Because you determined a plan to defect from North Korea but God directed your steps and turned off those security cameras at the DMZ so you could make your escape!

For Choi Chun Hyok: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Because when your Father died, you risked your life multiple times trying to feed your Mother and siblings and ended up in jail in Russia, but God is now prospering you.

For Lee Jae Hee: Romans 8:15: “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba,[a] Father.’ “ Because you lost your parents and then your siblings and then you bowed to Kim Il Song and Kim Jong Il’s portrait before you fled North Korea promising then you would come back, but you are no longer a slave to them AND you are no longer an orphan because God has adopted you into His family – He is your Abba Father!

For Kim Ga YoungProverbs 9: “I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.” Because you made the decision to seek God because of your young son, and God promises when you seek Him, you will find Him!

Also, the List family gave individual message cards to each delegation member to show support and provide encouragement and hope.

Finally, Suzanne thanked Deanna List and her family for providing a temporary place for her, so Suzanne could focus on taking care of the delegation. The farewell dinner was a nice way to wrap up this year’s NKFW and strengthen our commitment to advancing the freedom of North Korea.
