INFORMATION ABOUT THE NORTH KOREA FREEDOM COALITION INTERNATIONAL PROTEST ON DECEMBER 2, 2006
Dear
Friends:
Please
find below a listing of the cities and countries that so far have agreed
to participate in the International
Protest Against China's Violent Repatriation of North
Korean Refugees at 12:00 noon on December 2. Thanks to
the help of Open Doors, we have more cities covered than ever before!
Depending
on the city and the country, many different events are being
planned. Some will stage protests, some will hold prayer vigils, some
will deliver petitions and letters right at 12:00 noon that day -- the
important thing is action in as many cities and countries as possible.
For those of you planning to participate in the Washington DC protest, please
download the flyer and also forward to any folks that may want to join.

We
must raise our voices together against China's violent repatriation
of North Korean refugees. The plan for the protest is simple: Where ever you are in the world, go to the nearest
Chinese Embassy or Consulate Office at noon this December 2 to take a stand for
the suffering North Korean refugees in China who are continuing to be hunted
down by the Chinese authorities and forced to return to North Korea where
they face torture, imprisonment, and even execution for the
"crime" of leaving their country.
On
December 2, we must take a stand against China's flagrant violation of the
international agreements it has signed, and we must let the refugees in
China and the humanitarians in China's jails know that we are standing up for
them. We know from former refugees and from jailed humanitarian
workers that these protests have been their hope, their lifeline to know that
people care and are taking a stand for them. Two North Korean women who
had been victimized by traffickers in China told us they
thought about suicide, but when they heard that people were advocating for
the refugees in China it gave them hope to
stay alive. Former jailed humanitarian worker Kim Hee
Tai told us that hearing that people were taking a stand for him at one of
these protests gave him the strength he needed to survive the torture he was
undergoing in China's prison.
Please
join us on Saturday December 2 to take a stand for one of the world's most
vulnerable and suffering people in the world today -- North Korean refugees in
China -- by contacting the coordinators listed below and volunteering to
participate.
Warm
regards,
Suzanne
